Success Story

Guitar Player is a renowned print and online magazine for guitarists published by CMP Publications that has been in operation since 1967. It is part of the Music Player Network which also includes print and online publications for bass players, keyboardists, and other musicians.

In May of 2006 the Music Player Network partnered with TrueFire TV to launch Guitar Player TV, an internet-based television station for guitarists including professionally produced interviews, lessons and other video content featuring the magazine°s top musicians.

When Guitar Player began looking for a vendor that could help them to augment Guitar Player TV with a sister site focused on user generated content, they quickly decided upon Reality Digital. The My Guitar Player TV site hosts user generated video by musicians for musicians including instruction, information, and entertainment. Users can upload clips of themselves, view other contributor°s clips, rate and tag video, share clips, and much more. Reality Digital manages all technical aspects of the site while CMP owns and manages all users and site content.

The site was initially launched as a single aggregate site to support communities served by the approximately one dozen music sites in the Music Player Network. Over time, however, CMP will create individual UGC platforms for each of CMP°s music sites, all supported by Reality Digital°s Opus™ platform.
